KING’S BASEBALL SPLITS WITH PITT-GREENSBURG

 

WINTER HAVEN, FLA – The King’s College baseball team split a doubleheader with Pitt-Greensburg Monday in Winter Park, Fla.  The Monarchs (3-1) won the first game 4-3 before dropping the nightcap 4-1.

In the opener, junior Tommy Rozelle tossed six innings and allowed just five hits with seven strikeouts. Freshman Bobby Buttafogo picked up the save in retiring all three batters with one strikeout in the seventh inning. Offensively, freshman Chris Sweeney was 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Senior Matt Unger went 2-for-3 with a run scored while freshman Brenton Eades was also 2-for-.3. Junior Rob Fravel finished 1-3 with a RBI.

In the nightcap, freshman Joe Dorbad had a strong start for the Monarchs tossing a complete-game six hitter with four strikeouts as the hard-luck loser. Sweeney was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI while Jeremy Bonser was also 2-for-3 with a double. Eades chipped in by going 1-for-2 for King’s.

 

The Monarchs will be idle until Friday when King’s meets Wittenberg College in a 12:30 a.m. doubleheader. On Saturday King’s will play Ramapo College in a 9:30 a.m. twin bill.
