KING'S LINDSEY HOERNER NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE “PITCHER OF THE WEEK”
ANNVILLE – King's College softball standout Lindsey Hoerner has been named the Freedom Conference “Pitcher of the Week”, the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Monday.
It marked the second time this season she received the award.
The 2009 Freedom "Pitcher of the Year", Hoerner was a force during the week with four starts. She went 3-1 with the lone loss coming by a 3-1 margin to Division III traditional power Ithaca.
In her first game of the week, she tossed a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 6-0 shutout of Baptist Bible College. Against Ithaca, she scattered seven hits and allowed two earned runs in the contest.
In her most clutch effort of the week, she started and won both ends of a playoff-clinching Freedom Conference doubleheader against FDU-Florham, posting a 2-0 win in the first game, then winning the nightcap 7-1 in a game the Lady Monarchs led just 2-1 in the fifth inning.
For the week she pitched 28 innings, posting a 0.75 ERA with 25 strikeouts. She also hit .437 (7-16) with two doubles and five RBI, producing the winning run in game-one vs. FDU with a double in 6th inning.
King's will return to action Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ
