KING'S EDGES PENN STATE ALTOONA IN LYCO TOURNEY FINAL

WILLIAMSPORT -- Vince Scalzo scored 18 points to claim most valuable player honors as the King's College men's basketball team defeated Penn State Altoona 61-59 in the championship game of the Lycoming College Tip-Off Tournament Saturday in Williamsport.

With the win, King's improved to 2-0 while PSU-Altoona slipped to 1-1.

With the game tied at 57-57 with 4:08 left in the game when Scalzo hit one of two foul shots and Ryan Nenstiel added a bucket to put the Monarchs on top 61-58 with 1:57 on the clock.

Altoona would cut the lead to 61-59 when Kirk Peters made one-of-two foul shots with 1:56 left but neither team would score as the Monarchs held on for the win.

Scalzo was 4-of-9 from the field but went 9-of-12 from the foul line while hauling in eight rebounds. Jamie Cousart made the all-tournament team after tallying eight points, six rebounds, and two assists. Ryan Nenstiel added 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists. John Soboleski chipped in with six points and seven rebounds. King's held a dominating 47-26 advantage on the boards.
