#3 Catholic Upsets #2 Frostburg State in Semifinal Match Up
WILKES-BARRE--- Matt Brady scored two goals en route to leding third-seeded Catholic University to a 3-2 overtime upset of second-seeded Frostburg State in the semi-finals of the ECAC Southern Region Tournament.
The game could not not be decided after 100 minutes of play before finally coming to a halt when Brady scored the game-winner on a breakaway 1:41 into the second over-time. Kevin Duffy was credited with the assist.
With the win, Catholic improves to 14-6 and will play in the championship on Sunday at 1:00pm against the winner of the top-ranked King's and fifth-seeded Wilkes match up. Frostburg ends their season with a 14-5-1 overall record.
Brady scored the first goal of the game at just 4:42 into the first half. The Cardinals would get their next goal at 11:29 when Brian White headed the ball towards the goal and it bounced off the goaltenders arm and fell into the goal. Catholic would take a 2-0 lead into half time.
But Frostburg would rattle off two goals in the second half to tie the game. Jason King struck first for the Bobcats on a pass from Sean Jones and put the ball into the top right corner at 63:12. Jones would score the second Frostburg goal at 83:36 on a pass from Greg Bistany.
The championship game will be play at 1:00pm at McCarthy Stadium on Sunday.
