KING'S MEN OUTLAST RAMAPO 75-74 IN WILKES-BARRE CHALLENGE OPENER
WILKES-BARRE – The King's College men's basketball team placed four players in double-figures scoring as the Monarchs posted a 75-74 victory over Ramapo College in the opening round of the Wilkes-Barre Challenge Saturday at Wilkes University.

King's built a 38-32 halftime lead on the strength of 10 points each from Kyle Stackhouse and Chase McGowan. In the second half, however, Ramapo battled back with a 12-5 spurt to take a 44-43 lead with 12:54 remaining in the contest. The game would go back and forth the rest of the way as the teams changed leads on nine occasions while forging two ties.
With the contest deadlocked at 69-69 with1:49 left, the Monarchs used a pair of foul shots form Kevin Conroy to take a 71-69 advantage with 1:3q3 on the clock. After a Ramapo miss, Conroy was fouled again and buried both charity tosses to up the King's lead to 73-69 with 1:23 left. The Roadrunners would cut the lead to one-point as a three-pointer by Andre Kenny brought the score to 73-72 with 0:50 to go. King's would stretch the lead back to 75-72 on a pair of foul shots form Stackhouse with 0:14 left, but Garret Theil scored on a layup with 0:07 on the clock to bring Ramapo to within 75-74. Ramapo would have a chance to win the game when Theil stole the ensuing inbounds pass but Kenny's jumper bounced off the front of the rim with 0:03 left and the clock would run out during a mad scramble for the loose ball as King's held on for the win.
McGowan paced King's with 19 points and five rebounds while Stackhouse followed with 16 points and five assists. Nick Reisig came off the bench to score nine of his 11 points in the second half. Conroy and Jim Schule contributed 10 points each for King's.
Ramapo was led by Ahmad Hassan who scored a game-high 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including 7-of-15 from three-point range. Kenny would add 15 points while Kevin Findlay tallied 10 points.
King's will face Elizabethtown College Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in the Marts Center.
