KING'S MEN'S SWIMMERS DEFEAT MT. ST. MARY'S, 95-82

NEWBURGH, NY -- Justin Weilert was a winner in two individual races and was a member of a winning relay team as the King's College men's swim team posted a 95-82 victory over host Mr. St. Mary's College Saturday in Newburgh, NY.

With the win, the Monarchs improved to 2-2 on the year while Mt. St. Mary's fell to 3-1.


Weilert touched first in the 100-butterfly with a 1:03.72 and was also first in the 500-freestyle at 5:33.89. In addition, Weilert teamed with Mike Sweeney, Brian Matylewicz, and Joe Westcoat to win the 400-freestyle relay, the final event of the day, with a time of 3:46.53 to clinch the victory.

Sweeney captured the 200-freestyle with a 1:58.53 and was second in the 100-freestyle at 52.29. Kyle Newton was first in the 100-breaststroke with a 1:05.71 and was also second in the 200 individual medley at 2:08.52.

Brian Matylewicz was second in the 1000-freestyle with a 11:45.66 and was also second in the 100-backstroke at 1:07.83. Matt Dickson was second in the 100-breaststroke with a 1:11.36.

Lucas Crock was third in the 100-freestyle with a 56.92 while Richie Guth was third in the 100-backstroke at 1:09.52.

King's 400 medley relay team of Guth, Dickson, Newton, and Crock were victorious with a time of 4:21.77.

King's will next travel to Dallas to face Misericordia University in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
