HAMILTON, NY -- NCAA Division I Colgate University placed four players in double figures and shot 55.7 percent from the field and 56.5 percent from three-point range as the host Raiders posted an 85-51 victory over visiting King's College in a pre-season exhibition game Thursday night in Hamilton, NY.

The contest served as the final tune-up for the Lady Monarchs

In the first half, Colgate started out strong, building a 15-5 at 13:31 following a short jumper by Carole Harris, a traditional three-point play from Kelly Reed and a driving lay-up by Jhazmine Lynch.

King's close the gap to four points, at 22-18 at the 10:13 mark on a pair of Celia Rader foul shot and again at 24-20 on a basket by Samantha Simcox with 7:50 remaining in the first half. Colgate then answered with a 7-0 run to take a 31-20 lead on a three-pointer by Lynch with 6:15 on the clock.

Samantha Simcox
The Raiders' lead grew to 35-22 after buckets by Steph Schultz and Lauryn Kobiela with 5:14 left in the half, but Rader was fouled shooting a three-pointer and made all three charity tosses to bring the Lady Monarchs to within 35-25 with 5:03 to go.

In the second half Colgate continued its hot shooting, outscoring King's 17-3 over the first 8:46 of the final period to build a 68-37 advantage. After a Paige Carlin basket for King's, Kelly Korkowski
made back-to-back buckets for the Raiders to stretch the lead to 72-39 with 9:21 left in the contest.

King's continued to battle and used a 10-3 spurt to cut the Colgate lead to 75-49 with 3:45 to play after baskets from Ashley Davies and Brittany Muscatell
, along with three-pointers by Abby Malloy and Rader.

But Colgate responded by scoring 10 of the last 12 points of the game to close out the scoring.
