King's Women's Basketball Opens Season Friday at Scotty Wood Invitational
Allentown, Pa.—The King's College women's basketball team tips off the 2012-13 season against Mount Aloysius College at 1:00 p.m. at the Scotty Wood Invitational hosted by Muhlenberg College.

This marks the second straight season the Lady Monarchs and Mounties have squared off in the season opener with King's earning an 86-66 victory last season at Scandlon Gymnasium.
King's returns a talented group of upperclassmen led by senior guard
Katlin Michaels. Michaels, who earned first-team All-Freedom Conference honors last season, averaged 10.1 points per-game and a team-high 5.1 assists. Also back is senior shooting guard
Celia Rader who added 9.8 points per game and connected on 53 treys last season, including an NCAA tournament-tying nine three-pointers against William Paterson in the Round of 32.
Sophomore
Marissa Manning started 29 of 30 games in her freshman season and finished last season with a 21 point-10 rebound double-double in the Lady Monarchs Sweet 16 loss. She averaged 7.6 points and 4.6 rebounds as a rookie. Senior
Lindsay Atchison notched 5.3 points per game and 4.1 boards per contest a year ago.
The Mounties return senior Lindsy Sammarco who started 25 games last season and led the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game. She was also the team's leading rebounder averaging 5.6 boards per contest.
The winner of this game will square off against the winner of the Muhlenberg-Centenary contest. The championship game is at 6:00 p.m. while the consolation contest is at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
