KING'S MEN STAND SIXTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF MAC SWIM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Day One Finals Results

WILKES-BARRE -- Freshman Kyle Newton posted the highest individual finish of the day to lead the King's College men's swimming team to a sixth-place ranking after the opening day of the Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships Friday at the Wilkes-Barre C.Y.C.


Newton placed fourth in the 200-individual medley for the Monarchs with a time of 2:00.68, King's best individual placing of the day.

In the 500-freestyle, King's freshman Mike Sweeney finished ninth with a time of 5:00.95. In the men's 400-medley relay, the Monarch team of Newton, Sweeney, Matt Dickson, and Richie Guth were seventh with a time of 3:53.49.

In the men's 200-freestyle relay, the Monarch team of Lucas Crock, Joe Westcoat, Justin Weilert, and Brian Matylewicz were seventh at 1:37.68.

Swimming will continue Saturday with preliminaries set for 9:00 a.m.while finals are set to begin following Opening Ceremonies at 5:00 p.m.
