KING'S MEN'S TEAM VICTORIOUS IN HOME DEBUT WHILE WOMEN'S TEAM FALLS SHORT
WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College swimming teams made their home debut on Saturday with a meet against Mount Saint Mary College. The men's team defeated the visiting Knights 131-60 while the women's team fell by a score of 107.5-93.5.
The men's team is now 2-1 this season while the women stand at 2-2.
Dan Weekes broke the Scandlon Pool Record in the 50 yard freestyle with a winning time of 22.05. Weekes was also a part of King's pool record-breaking 400 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay teams that finished first. The medley relay team that also included
Bryce Groshardt, Randill De Asis, and
Christopher Dionne had a time of 3:46.86. The same four finished the freestyle relay with a time of 3:20.59.
Aaron Griffith won the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:03.04 while Groshardt won the 200 yard freestyle with a MAC qualifying time of 1:51.26 and broke the pool record in the 100 yard freestyle with a MAC qualifying time of 49.11.
Chris Soutter won the 200 yard IM with a season-best time of 2:13.26 and finished first in the 500 yard freestyle with a MAC qualifying time of 5:16.75.
John Kwasizur finished first in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:21.61 and
Josh Shoemaker won the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:25.17.
Katie Fitch won the 1000 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 11:42.90 while
Melina Good finished first in the 50 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 26.81.
Mikayla Miller had the fastest 100 yard freestyle time with a 58.41 and the team of
Brigid Wynn,
Kailie Karensky, Fitch, and Miller won the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:02.50.
The swim teams will return to the pool on Friday when they travel to Annville to take on Middle Atlantic Conference rival Lebanon Valley College at 6:00 p.m. They will then host Stevenson University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
