Freshman King-Shakim Rose came up big when he needed to by becoming King's second-ever men's MAC Champion with a school record throw of 14.03 meters (46'0.5") on his sixth and final attempt of the day. Entering the throw Rose sat fourth but changed all that with his school record toss. He bettered his previous record of 13.83 meters that he threw at this same facility last month. Rose earned All-MAC First Team honors and scored a huge 10 points for the Monarchs. In the weight throw, King-Shakim Rose was King's third thrower to earn points finishing in seventh to score two points with a season best mark of 13.98 meters (45'10.5") on his last throw of finals. Rose qualified with marks of 13.02 meters and 12.53 meters before fouling on his final attempt in the preliminaries. He hit 13.37 meter on his first attempt of the finals and fouled on his second.
