Wyoming Valley Country Club

The 18-hole "Wyoming Valley" course at the Wyoming Valley Country Club facility in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania features 6,178 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71. The course rating is 71.2 and it has a slope rating of 130. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast, the Wyoming Valley golf course opened in 1896.

The Wyoming Valley Country Club has a reciprocity agreement with over 40 country clubs in the Northeast region, offering our members the ability to play several highly ranked PA courses. In 2012, WVCC was selected as a Platinum Club of America, ranking among the top 100 country clubs in America. This honor is the ultimate recognition of club excellence - equivalent to the esteemed Mobil 5-star rating of hotels and resorts. Only 3% of our nation's clubs earn this honor.

The Wyoming Valley Country Club was officially chartered on June 16, 1896, and is the fifth oldest golf club in Pennsylvania and forty-fifth in the United States. The original course was nine-holes, which was replaced by the current course, designed by A.W. Tillinghast and opened for play in 1925.

Although most of the holes have been lengthened, trees have been planted, and ponds added or enlarged over the years, the course is true to the Tillinghast original. Narrow, undulating fairways and small, sloping greens more than make-up for Wyoming Valley's lack of overall length.

From the back tees, the course plays to 6,178 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,197 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 12, a par-5 that plays to 532 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 13, a par-3 that plays to 173 yards from the back tees.

A recent rater from Golfweek wrote, "It is my opinion, the course is a true hidden gem and has the look and feel of an A.W. Tillinghast course. The course offers variety in club selection as well as different looks through 18 holes."
