WILKES-BARRE--- The Monarch wrestling team went 2-2 on Saturday at the John Reese Duals held at Wilkes University. King's picked up wins over SUNY-Oneonta (27-10) and Baldwin Wallace (41-3), but fell to Ithaca (40-3), currently ranked 10th in the country and Mt. Saint Joseph's (27-11). King's record now stands at 2-2.

 

The Monarch grapplers were paced by 174 lb. sophomore Mike Reilly, who won three of his four matches on the day. Reilly picked up a 6-0 decision over Oneonta's Josh Wake, a technical fall over Mt. St. Joseph's Nick Terry 16-0, and pinned Mike Brandt of Baldwin-Wallace in 1:51.

 

In the heavyweight class, Chris Rash picked up three wins, two by pin and one by forfeit. Reilly pinned Mike Diorio of Oneonta in 6:34 and Nate Rychlim of Mt. St. Joseph's in 6:41. Rash received a forfeit against Baldwin-Wallace.

 

Senior Zack Wilkinson was 2-1 on the day, posting a 7-1 decision over Jamie Facenda of Ithaca while downing Andrew Scavuzzo of Baldwin-Wallace 2-1.

 

At 125, freshman Michael Tabasco split his matches 2-2. Against Derek Conant of Oneonta, Tabasco won 7-2 and the pined Tyler Erwin of Baldwin-Wallace in 1:32.

 

Co-Captain Zach Wilkinson picked up two wins on the day. Wilkinson won by decision over Jamie Facenda 7-1 in the Ithaca match and beat Andrea Scavuzzo of Baldwin-Wallace 2-1.
