KING'S MEN'S SWIMMERS FALL TO LEBANON VALLEY IN OPENER

WILKES-BARRE – The King's College swim team opened the 2009-10 season Wednesday night as the Monarchs fell to visiting Lebanon Valley College in Scandlon Gymnasium. The Monarch men fell by a score of 78-44 while the Lady Monarchs dropped a 106-71 verdict.
For the men, Eric Stencovage captured the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.06 as well as the 100 breaststroke at 1:10.26. Matt Lysy captured the 500 freestyle with a 6:45.71. Caleb Farrell was second in the 100 freestyle at 1:01.11 and second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:16.29.
On the women's side King's Becca Smith won the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 12:13.98. Maggie Nealer captured the 500 freestyle with a 5:47.85 and was second in the 200 freestyle at 2:09.73. Amanda Casey was second in the 50 freestyle with a 29:66 while Susie Hughes was second in the 100 butterfly at 1:16.07
King's won the 200 freestyle relay as its team of Nealer, Smith, Stephanie Hughes, and Susie Hughes swam a 2:01.31. The Lady Monarch 200 medley relay team of Hughes, Amanda Casey, Krystina Homanko, and Carissa Cook were second with a time of 2:11.42.
King's returns to the pool Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. home matchup against Cabrini College in Scandlon Gymnasium.
