KING'S WRESTLERS VICTORIOUS IN PENNSYLVANIA/NEW YORK DUALS
WILLIAMSPORT - - The King's College wrestlers were victorious in both of their matches against SUNY-Oswego and Rochester Institute in the Pennsylvania/New York Duals Saturday afternoon in Williamsport. The Monarchs defeated RIT in the first round by the score of 45-0, and then registered a 24-15 victory over SUNY-Oswego in the second.
Leading the way for the Monarchs at 125-pounds was sophomore Mike Tabasco who scored a 8-7 decision over Shin Wakabayshi of RIT while later receiving a forfeit over SUNY-Oswego. At 133-pounds, senior Tony Miele pinned both Joe Beaumont of RIT at 1:01 and Omar Santiago of Oswego in the 2:02 mark. Senior captain Frankie Davis won both of his 141-pound matches with a 9-5 victory over Tim Banks of RIT and then later defeating Oswego's Chris Payne 3-2.
Senior Taylor Green also earned two victories at 157-pounds, earning a technical fall win over Evan Williams of RIT at 5:30 and then posting a 8-2 decision over Blake Fischer of SUNY-Oswego. In the 174-pound class, freshman David Foley registered a 3-2 decision over Ben Johnstone in the first match, then followed with a 6-1 victory over Ethan Phillips of Oswego in the second. Freshman Frank Marinucci also finished the day with two victories at 184-pounds with the 4-2 decision over RIT's Tyler Brent and then tallying a 8-3 decision over Ethan Phillips.
Pete Dwyer was 1-0 on the day, posting a pin of Tom Armentano in 2:11. Additionally for the Monarchs, Chris Puorro (149), Jerry Robbins (165), and John Humble (285) went 1-1 on the day.
The Monarchs will return to the mat Tuesday with a home conference matchup against the University of Scranton with the match slated for a 7:00 p.m. start
