King's Swim Teams Fall to Drew in Close Contests

KING'S SWIMMERS FALL TO DREW IN CLOSE CONTESTS

MADISON, NJ --  The King's College women's and men's swim team dropped close contests to host Drew University Saturday in Madison, NJ. The men lost 80-66 while the women fell 92-81.

In the men's meet, Josh DeBellas won the 1650-freestyle with a time of 19:01.98. He was also second in the 500-freestyle at 5:46.38.  Eric Stencovage captured the 50-freestyle with a 23.95 as well as the 100 breaststroke at 1:04.71.  Joe Westcoat placed second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2;31.84.  Jack Harrington was second in the 100-freestyle with a 54.45 as well as in the 200-freestyle ay 2:00.29.

In the women's competition, Patricia Manning captured three events for the Lady Monarchs. She won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:24.01. She also came out on top in the 500-freestyle at 5:50.35 and the 100-breaststroke by timing out at 1:16.89. Maggie Nealer  won the 1650-freestyle with a time of 19:17.44 and was second in the 100-freestyle at 59.64.  King's 400-freestyle relay team of Amanda Casey, Stephanie Hughes, Becca Smith and Krystna Homanko were victorious with a time of 4:16.73.

Smith was second in the 1650 with a time of 1933.60 while Homanko was second in the 500-freestyle with a 5:57.52.  Casey was second in the 50-freestyle with a time of 29.86 while also placing second in the 100-backstroke at 1:11.55.

King's will prep for the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship on Saturday when the squad wraps up its regular-season with a 1:00 p.m. Matchup at Elizabethtown College.
