KING'S SWIMMERS FALL TO MISERICORDIA

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College men's and women's swim teams were swept by visiting Misericordia University Thursday night in Scandlon Gymnasium.
The Cougar women won by a score of 121-79 while the men were also victorious by a 143-45 count. King's women slipped to 3-1 with the loss while Misericordia women improved to 2-4. The Monarchs men fell to 0-4 while the Misericordia men improved to 2-2.
In the men's 1000-freestyle, King's
Michael Sweeney won with a time of 10:56.81 and the 100-freestyle at 51.51.
Dane Darnell was second in the 50-freestyle at 24.11 while
Lucas Crock was third in the 100-utterfly with a 1:02.47. Matt Thompson was third in the 100-backstroke at 1:07.71
For Misericordia the Misericordia men, Matt Essington won the 2-freestyle with a 1:55.19, while Doug Ranson was victorious in the 50-freestyle with a time of 23.09. Pat Dunigan touched first in the 400-individual medley at 4:22.57 while Brad Thomas was a winner in the 100-butterfly with a 58.56. Nick Essington captured the 500-freestyle at 5:18.85.
For King's, Caroline Fitch won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11:49.69 and was second in the 500-freestyle at 5:50.32. Patricia Manning captured the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:46.18 and was second in the 100-backstroke at 1:07.15. Macawley Brown was victorious in the 100-butterfly by touching in at 1:05.80.
Kimmie Brino was a winner in the 500-freestyle with a 5:43.49. Erin McLin was second in the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:08.90 as well as the 100-freestyle at 58.32. Rachel Jonas was second in the 50-freestyle with a 27.79.
For the Cougar women, Aryn Zimmerman captured the women's 50-freestyle at 26.91 while Leah Davis won the 100-backstroke with a 1:06.79. In the 100-freestyle, Brittany Luzik was the winner at 57.64 while Dani Blass finished first in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.83.
King's will host Mt. St. mary's Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in Scandlon Gym.
