KING'S WRESTLERS FALL TO HUNTER, 30-13
WILKES-BARRE -- It was a hectic day of wrestling for King's College which had the unsual task of wrestling one match at home, then driving to Allentown for a second.
Due to the snow throughput the region, King's home match with Hunter College on Saturday was pushed to Sunday at 1:00 p.m. King's previously scheduled match at Muhlenberg College in Allentown remained on the schedule
The Monarchs, wrestling without three injuried starters, fell to Hunter 30-13, then hopped on a bus to Allentown and posted a 42-18 victory over Muhlenberg.
Against Hunter, King's won its first match at 141 when
DeMarquis Holley posted a 3-2 decision.
Tommy Desir was victorious at 165 with a with an 11-0 major decision.
Shane Stark added a 8-5 decision at 184 while
Ryan Longenberger posted a 7-3 decision at 197.
After putting the mats away, King's headed to Muhlenberg on a drive that lasted longer than the match itself
. With King's forfeiting at 133-pounds and Muhlenberg fielding only five healthy wrestlers, only four bouts actually took place with the Monarchs and Muhlenberg winning two matches apiece
Holley (16-7) posted a first-period pin while Tommy Desir (21-4) tallied a pin at 165. Monarch wrestlers picking up forfeits included James Scarantino (125), Nathanial Seals (157), Gordon Custer (157), Anthony Clifford (174), and Ryan Longenberger (197).
With the split King's is now 6-9 on the year.
The Monarchs return home Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. matchup with nationally-ranked Centenary College in Scandlon Gym.
