King's Wrestlers Fall to Scranton, 28-15

KING'S GRAPPLERS FALL TO SCRANTON

SCRANTON -- The King's wrestling team fell behind 24-0 and never recovered as the Monarchs dropped a 28-15 decision to the University of Scranton Wednesday in the John Long Center.

After surrendering four straight pins to start the match, Howard Kilpatrick gave King's its first win at 157 with a 5-3 overtime win befor Keith Wanamaker followed with a 6-4 win. Angelo Lussi cut the lead to 24-9 with a decision at 174 and Ed Merrill gave the Monarchs a fourth straight win with a 6-2 decision. The MOnzarchs picked up a fifth straight win as Ryan Longenberger gained a 3-1 decison.

But while each team won five straight matches, King's was unable to earn any bonus points and still trailed 24-15 heading into the final match. Eric Calimano then closed out the match for Scranton with a 15-2 major decision over Fjoralb Cekici to set the final score.
