KING'S SWIMMERS DROP SEMESTER FINALE TO MISERICORDIA
WILKES-BARRE, PA --- The King's College swimming teams fell to local rival Misericordia University in their last meet of the fall semester at the Scandlon Poll in Wilkes-Barre. The women's team fell by a score of 133-119 while the men dropped a 143-114 decision.
The Lady Monarchs drop to 3-4 overall and 1-2 against Middle Atlantic Conference teams while the men fall to 4-2 overall and 2-1 against conference teams.
Katie Fitch won the 1000 yard freestyle in a season-best time of 11:38.26 and the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:44.50.
Brigid Wynn also won two events for the Lady Monarchs coming in first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:08.53 and in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:21.35. She also finished second in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:26.84.
Mikayla Miller finished second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.17 and second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 58.96.
Megan Whitt came in second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 2:27.83 while
Hannah Oney finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:15.55 and second in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:44.35.
Lauren Pham finished second in two events swimming a 1:06.05 in the 100 yard butterfly and a season-best time of 2:29.18 in the 200 yard butterfly.
Melina Good came in second in the 50 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 26.49.
For the men
Chris Soutter won the 1000 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 10:45.33 and the 500 yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:16.47.
Dan Weekes won the 50 yard freestyle with a season-best and pool record time of 21.74 breaking his own mark of 22.05 he set earlier this year. Weekes also finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.34.
Bryce Groshardt finished second in the 200 yard IM with a season-best time of 2:01.97, second in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.18, and second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 55.00.
Randill De Asis finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:05.12 while
Nathaniel Dubbs finished second in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.83.
Rhyce Hammaker came in second in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.43 and Christpher Dionne finished second in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 56.70.
The Monarchs will be back in action on January 12, 2017 when they host Arcadia University and Messiah College at 5:00 p.m. at the Scandlon Pool.
