KING'S WOMEN'S HOCKEY FALLS TO NEUMANN
ASTON -- Bek Lukas and Jackie Schneider scored two goals apiece to lead the host Neumann University women's ice hockey team to a 6-1 victory over visiting King's College Friday night at the Ice Works Arena in Aston.
With the win Neumann improved to 6-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 0-11-1 and 0-6-1.
Lukas scored first 5:02 into the game to give the Knights a 1-1 lead but King's tied the score when Indra Wood found the back of the net for the first time in her career off an assist by Kellie Munro at the 9:51 mark . Neumann would add two more goals to take a 3-1 lead after one period.
The Knights added three more goals in the second period to build a 6-1 lead after 40 minutes of play. In the third period King's continued to battle hard and kept Neumann off the boards while outshooting Neumann 11-8 in the final frame.
King's goalie Kiva Sierra Stoltz made 36 saves in the game while Neumann keeper Helen Cooney posted 16 stops.
King's and Neumann will conclude its two-game series Saturday with a 7:00 PM matchup at Revolution Ice In Pittston. King's will also play at home on Sunday with a 2:00 PM game against Trine University of Indiana.
