King's Falls Short in MAC Freedom Finals at Eastern

ST. DAVID'S, PA (November 03, 2018) — The second-seeded Monarchs finished 11-6-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play after falling short to top-seeded Eastern University 3-0 in the Middle Atlantic Conference finals. The Monarchs came off a thrilling semi-final win against Manhattanville College where they won 1-0 in OT.

Eastern notched the first goal of the afternoon at 58 seconds off a long throw in to the 18 yard box and King's would remain on defense the rest of the game. Eastern tried to follow up with a quick second but senior goalie Owen Geedey was on the save.

Eastern would fire off two more attempts before King's Michael Scardeletti would get a yellow card. After four more attempts, The Eagles would get a shot in advancing the score to 2-0. Aidan Decamillo, Scardelletti and Matt Giangiulio would take shots before the end of the period.

The second half would start off strong with three King's corner kicks and three goal attempts by Zach WolcottLiam McLoughlin and Scardellletti until Eastern would score their third and final goal.

King's would stay on the Eagles but an abundance of fouls on both teams caused three yellow cards, King's Aidan Oyler being one and two Eastern Eagles. Two more shot attempts by Kyle Shalvey and McLoughlin would round out the second half and the game.

The King's men's soccer completed their season with 34 goals and 146-311 shots on target. They made 58 saves and had 134 corner kicks.
