Monarchs Earn First Win of the Season as Quick Celebrates 50 Career Wins

WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 12, 2019) — The Monarchs displayed some new found energy at the Mid-Winter Classic today as they recorded their first win of the season and celebrated junior Dakota Quick's 50thcareer win. King's College fell to McDaniel College (41-4), Hunter College (41-13) and Johns Hopkins University (30-15) but emerged victorious against Rhode Island College 27-18.
 
King's opened the day against McDaniel as Quick recorded his first win of the day in the 125-pound bracket. Earning a 13-2 major decision, the Pennsylvania native was one victory away from his 50th.
 
Tony Immediato(133),Matt Sparks(141) and Nick Price(165) put in a good effort but lost to their McDaniel opponents Immediato in a 11-4 decision, Sparks in a 13-2 major decision and Price also in a 15-6 major. Kade Kravits(149), Nick Palazzolo(157) and Isaac Mensah(197) all suffered a pin giving the Green Terror the win.  
 
It was versus Hunter College Quick notched his 50thcareer victory. A 13-2 major decision against Nickolas Karamoshos solidified his milestone. The junior also leads the team in pins (12) and team points (97).
 
Sparks collected the second win for King's against Hunter earning a 13-8 decision. Mensah also recorded a win on a medical forfeit. Palazzolo, Immediato and Kravits lost to their opponent. 
 
The Monarchs had their best showing against Rhode Island College where they recorded their first win of the season.
 
Quick and Mensah won on a medical forfeit while Immediato and Palazzolo hit their first pin of the season contributing 12 points to the Monarch effort. This was Immediato's first win of the season and Palazzolo's second. Sparks came out on top with an 11-4 decision. 
 
Price and Kravits suffered a loss by decision versus their opponents.
 
King's ended their run at the Mid-Winter Classic dropping against John's Hopkins. It was Quick, Sparks and Price that put up a victory for the team. Quick clinched his 12thpin of the season, Price his second while Sparks earned an 8-4 decision. Mensah and Palazzolo lost to their opponents. 

The Monarchs now head to the MAC Championships hosted by Wilkes this upcoming weekend Saturday, January 19. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. the championships will take place in the McGrane Gymnasium.
