Monarchs Win Five out of Eight Matches Versus Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 16, 2019) — The wrestling team finished their regular season today versus University of Scranton. The Monarchs wrestled one of their better matches but lost 30-19, five Monarchs were able to solidify a win. The men will finish their regular season 1-20.

In the 125 bout, junior Dakota Quick nabbed another pin for the season against Matthew Murawski at 4:06. The match went back and forth before Quick came off the whistle to hit his pin. He extends his record to 26 wins and 11 losses and 15 pins.

Tony Immediato had a dominant contest at 141 against Brandon Altieri. Immediato was able to grab a reversal and then follow it with a near fall that ensured his 11-0 major decision. He ends the regular season with four wins and nine losses.

The third victory was by freshman Kade Kravits in the 157-weight class. Kravits won by 4-2 decision versus Kyle Shaffer. This takes his record to 9-14.

Senior Nick Price also won by decision with a score of 7-4 in the 174-weight class against Aidan McNally to contribute three points to the Monarchs and advance his record to six wins.

In the 184 match, Isaac Mensah came back to win his match 12-7 after being out for the past few weeks due to injury. Mensah sealed the dual with a late takedown against William Fauerbach.

Matt Sparks (149), Nick Palazzolo (165) and J.J. Hooper (197) gave great effort but fell in their contests against the Royals.

The Monarchs will travel to Williamsport, PA for the NCAA Southeast Regional February 22 through the 23. Championships will begin at 9:00 a.m. and take place in the Keiper Recreation Center.
