WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 24, 2019) – King's College met Manhattanville College in their first rematch since the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championships last season. It was a defense heavy game as the Valiants took both games extending their undefeated streak to 12-0 and are now 2-0 in conference play while King's slides to 5-8 and 0-4 in MAC bouts.
Game One: King's 0, Manhattanville 2
The Monarchs struggled to get a run on the board in game one against Manhattanville. The team went 4-24 in their at bats but were able to hold the Valiants to just two runs throughout seven innings.
Junior
Kris Kocher pitched her third complete game of the season and pushes her record to 2-4 after taking the loss for King's. Kocher allowed 11 hits out of her 28 at bats striking out six and walking just three batters.
Second-year
Gabby Leary led the Monarchs in batting and fielding with recording two hits in her three appearances at the plate along with six putouts and an assist.
Game Two: King's 0, Manhattanville 9
In game two King's was only able to register two hits in 24 at bats, one from
Mackenzie Yori and the other
Gabriella Medina. The team totaled 21 putouts, 10 from first baseman
Andria Narisi while Yori contributed eight assists.
Sophomore
Nicole Kirse and freshman
Gianna Marsico appeared in the circle for King's with Kirse taking the loss, her record goes to 1-4. She pitched four innings allowing eleven hits on 25 batters and one strikeout. Marsico came in for the last three innings facing 14 at bats and giving five hits.
The Monarchs resume play, Tuesday, March 26, at Betzler Field for a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m. against PSU-Brandywine.
