Monarchs Drop Two Against Misericordia

DALLAS, PA (April 18, 2019) – The Monarchs drop in both games tonight against the Misericordia University Cougars. King's College is now 16-15 overall and 4-8 in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom games.

Game One: King's 4, Misericordia 5
The game remained without any scoring action until the fifth inning as The Cougars were able to tally one run after a Misericordia home run.

In the top of the sixth, freshman Kristi Ann Skok answered with her own homer to get King's back in the game. This would be Skok's third home run of her rookie season.

With the game tied 1-1, the Cougars go up to bat. With two outs, Misericordia would make it on base twice before hitting their second home run of the game bringing in three runs and push the score to 4-1.

King's tied things up again in the seventh inning with a walk by Kris Kocher to kick things off and a single by Marisa Mauro right after that pushed Kocher to third. As Gena Williams pinch ran for Mauro, Lindsey Leppo stepped up to bat and fired one to left field.

Leppo landed on first and reeled in Kocher. Leppo would be out at second and Williams would grab third as Mackenzie Yori reached on a fielder's choice. Yori stole second for her 13th stolen base of the season.

Mindina Lieback would bring in Yori and Wiliams for the tie and King's last runs of game one. Going into an eighth inning, Misericordia would score and take the victory.

Now with a a6-6 record, Kocher took the loss pitching another full game and facing 30 batters. She allowed eight hits and struck out four batters in her time in the circle.

Game Two: King's 0, Misericordia 7

The Monarchs would rattle off six hits in game two but wouldn't be able to score in game two. Yori recorded two hits as Taylor Norris, Skok, Gabriella Medina and Gianna Marsico all notched one.
