WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 8, 2019) -- The King's College women's tennis finished the second and final day of play in the 2019 King's Invitational, played at Kirby Park.
The Monarchs had a two players playing in finals of singles' brackets Sunday, while having doubles squads in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles flights. Junior
Emily Fernandez competed in the No. 1 singles finals Sunday, but she was topped by Nastashia DeNunzio of the University of Scranton 6-1, 6-0.
At No. 6 singles,
Addy Atkins used two wins on Sunday to get to the finals against Lily Nowak of Scranton. The King's newcomer would battle before falling to Nowak 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles,
Diana Rodriguez and
Mikayla Reynolds competed in the No. 2 doubles finals but would fall to Emily Kelly and Tatiana Klacko 8-0. In the No. 3 doubles' final, Atkins and
Lauren Lamarca dropped an 8-1 decision to Claire Loughlin and Nowak of Scranton.
The King's women's squad will be off before hosting the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Championships September 28-29 at Kirby Park.
