PITTSTON, PA (February 11, 2020) ---
Kiva Sierra Stoltz was excellent in goal stopping 55 shots as the King's College women's ice hockey team gave visiting SUNY Cortland a battle in a tight 3-0 loss on Tuesday afternoon from the Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.
The Red Dragons (13-7-2) got off to a quick start as Amanda Gaffney scored 94 seconds into the game off a rebounded shot by Olivia Wilburn for her seventh of the year. The Monarchs (2-18-1) responded with a lockdown defensive effort over the remaining of the period keeping the visitors from increasing their lead. King's kept the Red Dragons off the board until late in the second period when Jayden Kelley and Dany Donegan scored within 53 seconds of each other in the final 70 seconds of the period to set the final score. Grace Schnorr and Molly McCabe set up both goals.
Cortland finished the game with a 58-9 shot advantage as Stoltz recorded her second most saves of the season with 55. The Monarchs were called for a season low two penalties in the game and killed off both allowing just three shots during the four minutes of penalty kill. Cortland had one penalty in the game and allowed three shots on the penalty kill.

Raeann Clancey had two shots each for the Monarchs with
Maggie Gould,
Mary Deyell, and
Caitlin Redden recording one each. King's blocked 20 shots in the game as Gould led the team with four. Redden and
Morgan Almon had three each while Aitken and Clancey had two each. Aitken won a team high 10 faceoffs on 28 attempts.
The Monarchs will hit the road this weekend for a pair of games in upstate New York against United Collegiate Hockey Conference opponents looking to solidify their postseason spots. King's will face Utica College on Friday afternoon at 3:30 in Utica before taking on Nazareth College on Saturday at 1 pm in Rochester.
