2021 King's College Football Schedule
WILKES-BARRE, PA (June 11, 2021) -- The King's College football team released its full 2021 schedule on Monday morning, which includes six home games in McCarthy Stadium along which includes a stretch of four of its first five games in Wilkes-Barre.
"We are very excited to have a schedule, and be back playing football in '21," said head coach Jeff Knarr. "Thrilled to play in front of our home fans six times this season. Travel is a big logistic that takes time to plan accordingly, so we are happy that we only leave Wilkes-Barre once during the second half of our season."
The Monarchs open the 2021 campaign against Moravian College Sept. 4 in McCarthy Stadium at noon in non-conference action. It's the seventh consecutive season that the Monarchs and Greyhounds have opened the year together, as Moravian holds a 4-2 edge over that span though King's won the last meeting 23-20 in 2019.
After it's bye week, King's will celebrate Homecoming 2021 Sept. 18 against Lycoming College in McCarthy Stadium while opening Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. In league play, the Monarchs will host Lyco along with Alvernia University (Oct. 2), Albright College (Oct. 16) and FDU-Florham (Oct. 23). King's road MAC slate consists of dates at Lebanon Valley College (Sept. 25), Delaware Valley University (Oct. 9), Misericordia University (Oct. 30) and Stevenson University (Nov. 6).
The annual Mayor's Cup game this season will be held in McCarthy Stadium Nov. 13 at noon in non-conference action on the final day of the regular season. It marks the first time since 2006 and 2007 that King's has hosted back-to-back versions of the contest, as King's looks to get the trophy back after falling 24-14 in 2019 to their bitter crosstown rivals.
Other notable details about the slate include the first meetings with FDU-Florham and LVC since the 2017 campaign for King's. Also, Widener University's absence is the first time since the KC program's reboot in 1993 that the two schools won't meet on the gridiron in the regular season.
