Monarch Men Top Lycoming 100-97 on Saturday

WILLIAMSPORT, PA (January 16, 2022) --- The King's College men's swimming team defeated Lycoming College 100-97 on Saturday afternoon thanks to a well-balanced performance including a relay win and four individual victories.

The Monarchs began the day on a high note earning a win in the 200 medley relay. The team of Joel Williams, Kris Boxter, Andrew Pursel, and Kyle Altman combined to post a 1:44.16, edging out Lycoming by just over a second. 

Jared Stephan earned the first individual victory of the day for the Monarch men in the 1000 free. Stephan clocked in at 10:42.59 while Anthony Ursini finished right behind him in second at 11:20.73. 

In the 50 free, the duo of Altman and Pursel showed off their speed by finishing second and third respectively. Altman swam a time of 23.22 while Pursel booked a 23.33. 

Austin Morris and Boxter went two-three in the 200 IM at 2:09.26 and 2:15.82 respectively. 

Pursel and Altman then dominated the 100 free with a one-two finish for King's. Pursel swam a 51.48 while Altman clocked in at 51.63. 

Morris earned his win in the 100 back where he posted a 59.19, just edging out CJ Zortman of Lycoming. 

Boxter capped off the outing in tremendous fashion winning the 100 breaststroke by nearly two seconds. 

The Monarchs will return to action next Saturday when they host Misericordia at 1:00 PM in Scandlon Natatorium.
