COLMAR, PA (January 8, 2022) – The King's College women's ice hockey team dropped a hard-fought 5-0 decision to host Arcadia University in the team's first game of 2022 at Hatfield Ice Arena in Colmar, PA.

The Knights scored two goals in the first period, one in the second, and two in the third period to win their second straight game. The Monarchs took the first shot of the game as Ali Noeding forced Hannah Bergeron to make a save a couple minutes into the contest. The Knights responded with offensive pressure inside the blue line, but Syd Dahl and the Monarch defense held strong with seven saves and one blocked shot. King's earned the first power play opportunity of the game midway through the period and had shots by Noeding and Kait Wolf go wide while Wolf had another shot saved by Bergeron.

Arcadia tallied the first goal of the game at 13:05 as Karahkwenhawe White scored her fifth goal of the years unassisted. The Knights kept the pressure on the Monarchs following the goal and added to their lead at 18:27 with Campbell Torrey scoring a power play goal off a rebound from a blocked shot off the stick of Drew Kuretsky. The hosts came out firing to start the second period and Ariel Williamson found the back of the net for the third time this year at 1:27 to increase the lead to 3-0.

The Monarch defense locked down the Knights the rest of the period starting with successfully killing off a two-woman advantage. The defense turned into offense around the midway point of the period as Emma Dos Santos, Emma Besa, Savannah Willard, and Noeding all had shots that were saved. The Knights responded with an offensive attack of their own but were unable to score again in the period.

King's began the third period on the power play and put pressure on Bergeron in goal as Willard, Becca Allen, Ani Quindipan, and Noeding all fired shots during the opportunity. The Knights increased their advantage to 5-0 with a pair of goals scored 33 seconds apart at 13:55 and 14:28 of the period. Morganne Dee tallied the first goal, her third of the season, before Emily Wilson found the back of the net for the second time setting the final score. The Monarchs had a pair of chances to score late but shots by Emma Clark and Erin King were saved.

Noeding led the squad with five shots while Willard, Quindipan, and Dos Santos had two each. As a team the Monarchs put 16 shots on goal. Defensively, the team blocked 20 shots, which is their second-most in a game this season. Quindipan topped the team with five while Jordan Dittmar had three and five different skaters had two each.
