CENTER VALLEY, PA (April 30, 2022) -- Sophomore
Jackie Costello earned the lone win for the Monarchs as the King's College women's tennis team fell, 8-1, at DeSales in their 2021-22 season finale. The Monarchs fall to 4-12 overall and 3-4 in the MAC Freedom as they narrowly missed the post-season tournament, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-4 and 4-3 in the conference standings.
Costello earned her win at No. 6 singles as she defeated Alyssa Vandenberge 6-3 in the opening set. Vandenberge battled back for a 7-5 win in set two, but Costello earned the convincing 10-3 win in the final set to earn the win for the Monarchs.
At No. 1 singles, junior
Addie Atkins fell in a tough matchup to Kirsten Kosa, 6-1 and 6-3. First year
Ashley Kenia was downed 6-2 and 6-0 by Annie Rakos at No. 2 singles, while sophomore
Briana Moraca lost by matching 6-2 set scores to Morgan Landau at No. 3 singles. No. 4 singles action saw junior
Emily Morano drop sets of 6-2 and 6-3 to Bailey Greco, while first year
Hailey D'Amato lost a battle at No. 5 singles, 6-1 and 7-5, to Nyah Tomlinson.
Doubles play saw Atkins and Kenia fall, 8-4, at No.1 doubles to the Bulldogs pair. Morano and D'Amato dropped an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles, while Costello and sophomore
Braelan Drollas lost by a score of 8-1 at No. 3 doubles to the team from DeSales.
