WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 20, 2023) -- Ahead of their first scrimmage of the 2023-24 season, newly appointed Head Coach Josh Hoff announced the addition of Scott Mueller to the King's College women's ice hockey coaching staff.
Mueller is no stranger to the Wilkes-Barre area, the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC), or the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) as the Nashville, Tenn. native spent the five seasons competing for the Wilkes men's ice hockey team. He appeared in 100 career games as a defenseman, recording 15 points on a pair of goals and 13 assists, while also serving as a captain for one season.
The Colonels appeared in the postseason, qualifying for each UCHC Tournament during Mueller's playing career while also collecting MAC Champion titles in both the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons.
"I am very thankful for Coach Hoff to give me the opportunity to continue to be involved at a high level of hockey," said Mueller. "In addition, I am very excited to join the King's women's ice hockey coaching staff and help build a winning culture."
A 2022 graduate of Wilkes, Mueller earned his Bachelor's degree in supply chain management and a Master's in Business Administration and has been working as a regional customer supply chain administrator for Fastenal since finishing his degrees.
"I'm very excited to add Scott to our coaching staff," added Hoff. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for the game to our staff. This was a big hire for our program, Scott and I worked together last year in a player-coach role. So, understanding how I operate and want to run our program made it an easy discission to bring him on. I am very excited to have Scott joining the Monarch family."
In addition to his time at Wilkes, Mueller also played one year of Junior A hockey in Ottawa, Ontario.
Mueller's roles on the Monarch coaching staff will include being responsible for the development of our defensemen during practice. He will also assist with video breakdown and pre-scout. Lastly, he is going to help develop the King's power play units.
