Domchek's Score Leads King's in Setback at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, PA (October 21, 2023) -- Dylan Domchek put the Monarchs on the board in the second half, but his goal was not enough in the King's College men's soccer team's 5-1 setback to Lebanon Valley College on Saturday afternoon in Annville. With the loss in the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) match up, the Monarchs drop to 5-8-1 and 1-3-1 in the MAC Freedom, while the Flying Dutchmen improve to 11-1-3 with a 4-0-1 conference mark.

The Dutchmen put the only score on the board in the opening half in the 18th minute despite four good looks from the Monarchs as the King's (5-8-1, 1-3-1 MAC Freedom) efforts kept the road warriors in the game through the first 45 minutes of action.

Just 2:37 into the second half, Lebanon Valley (11-1-3, 4-0-1 MAC Freedom) pushed their advantage to 2-0, but the Monarchs remained in attack mode, totaling four shots with two on goal before Domchek broke through and put King's on the board, 2-1, in the 64th minute. The Flying Dutchmen built on their lead in response down the stretch, scoring three more times in the contest. Despite a final effort by Buck Diacont whose shot at the goal in the final 39 seconds of game play was thwarted by the Flying Dutchmen keeper, the host Lebanon Valley came out with the 5-1 victory in the MAC Freedom match on Saturday.

Shane Serio paced the Monarchs offense with four shots and two on goal, while Diacont tallied a pair of attempts. Jake Forst remained steady with eight saves across the 90 minutes.

Five different Flying Dutchmen scored in the win, led by Aidan Negron with a team-best three shots with his lone shot on frame resulting in a goal. Dalton Fitterling collected five saves in goal in the win for Lebanon Valley.

King's will remain on the road for their next match up, facing FDU-Florham on Tuesday, October 24 at 7:00 p.m. in Madison, NJ.
