Women's Ice Hockey Falls in Close Contest to #12 Nazareth

ROCHESTER, NY (November 10, 2023) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team battled from start to finish before falling, 4-0, to #12 Nazareth University on the road in The Iceplex on Friday night. The Monarchs stand at 1-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play, while the Golden Flyers improve to 3-1-0 and 3-0-0 in the conference.
 
King's (1-4-0, 0-3-0 UCHC) held off early attacks from the Nazareth (3-1-0, 3-0-0 UCHC) offense before letting in the first goal 9:28 into the period. It would not be until 12:17 into the second that the Golden Flyers tacked on their second score as the Monarchs defense and goalkeeper Syd Dahl continued to put on a clinic in the net. Leading 2-0 heading into the final 20 of action, the host Nazareth netted two more insurance goals 6:05 apart in the final period before handing King's the 4-0 loss on Friday evening at The Iceplex.
 
Five different Monarchs recorded shots in the loss, while Issy Lebrun won a team-high six face offs. Aspen Wallin blocked a team-high four shots, while Dahl collected 55 saves in the loss.
 
Nikki Sharp paced the Golden Flyers with a goal and an assist, while Audrey Donahue totaled a team-high 10 shots. Alexis Jones led the face off battle with 13 wins on 17 attempts, while Sydney Swanson blocked three shots. Maika Paquin collected the win as she made six saves for Nazareth.
 
King's will be back in action with Nazareth tomorrow afternoon, taking on the Golden Flyers in the second matchup of the UCHC series at 2:00 p.m. at The Iceplex.
