WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 3, 2023) --- The King's College women's ice hockey team fell to 14
th-ranked Nazareth 2-0 on Friday, but sophomore goaltender
Syd Dahl stopped a program record 79 shots in the game. With the tie, King's moves to 0-18-2 overall and 0-15-2 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference action, while Nazareth moves to 15-5-0 overall and 14-1-0 in UCHC play.

Nazareth (15-5-0, 14-1-0) started quickly, firing off five shots in the opening two minutes, but Dahl was up to the task. The Golden Flyers continued to push for the opening goal, before King's (0-18-2, 0-15-2) got their first chance of the game, as first-year
Olivia McTavish's effort was blocked. Late in the period, Nazareth eventually broke the ice however, as Ali Fujiyoshi found the back of the net at 16:56 to put the Golden Flyers up 1-0 after the first period.

King's got their first good luck of the game early in the second period, as sophomore
Sam Kulman's shot was turned aside. Nazareth looked to extend the lead, but Dahl continued to stand strong in net before the Monarchs looked to tie the game. With just over seven minutes gone in the period, King's fired off three shots in the span of 15 seconds, but were unable to find an equalizer. Nazareth responded right away though, as Maggie Pfalzgraf scored at 7:55 to extend the Golden Flyers lead to 2-0. Nazareth pressed looking to extend the lead in the middle frame, but Dahl shut the door, as Nazareth took the 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. The Golden Flyers continued looking to extend the lead in the third period, but Dahl was sharp stopping all 32 shots she faced in the final period, as Nazareth came away with the 2-0 win.

Dahl was outstanding in net, finishing the game with a program record of 79 saves on 81 shots. Offensively, the Monarchs were led by Kulman and graduate student
Issy Lebrun who both recorded two shots on goal. King's won 15 of 64 face-offs, led by sophomore
Jordan Dittmar, who won six of 21 draws. The Monarchs went 0-1 on the power play, but finished a strong 3-3 on the penalty kill.

McKinley Hoff got the start in goal, stopping all seven shots faced. The Golden Flyers had four players record one point, led by Pfalzgraf and Fujiyoshi who both tallied one goal. Nazareth went 0-3 on the power play and 1-1 on the penalty kill, while winning 49 of 64 face-offs,

King's will finish the weekend series with 14
th-ranked Nazareth on Saturday afternoon at the Revolution Ice Centre, with puck drop slated for 2 p.m.
