WILLIAMSPORT, PA (April 26, 2023) – In their final match of the 2023 season, the shorthanded King's College women's tennis team defeated Penn College, 6-3, in Williamsport on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Monarchs wrap up their season with a 6-13 overall record, while the Wildcats drop to 2-9.
Doubles play saw
Ashley Kenia and
Hailey D'Amato defeat the No. 1 Wildcats doubles pair, 8-2, while
Jackie Costello and
Braelan Drollas earned an 8-3 decision in the No. 2 doubles match.
In singles play, Kenia posted a pair of 6-2 set wins over Ellen Buckley at No. 1 singles, while D'Amato handed Georgia Macensky a pair of 6-1 decisions at No. 2 singles. The No. 3 singles match saw Costello defeat Cassie Johnson, 6-0 and 6-1, while Drollas earned a set of 6-0 wins of Kaelynn Sheetz in the No. 4 singles match.
The host Penn College earned wins at No. 3 doubles, No. 5 singles, and No. 6 singles as the Monarchs were shorthanded in the contest.
