WILLIAMSPORT, PA (March 1, 2024) -- The King's College wrestling team competed in the NCAA Southeast Regional tournament that was hosted by Lycoming on Friday afternoon. The Monarchs finished 22 out of 22 scoring teams with 10.5 points in the Keiper Recreation Center.
Patrick Horvath (So.) – 125
Horvath was defeated in his first match against David Rubin of Washington & Lee in a 7-3 decision. The sophomore rallied back as he dropped Theil's Edward McCarthy in 1:35 to gain his first win. Horvath lost his battle with Lycoming's Kaden Majcher in a 15-0 technical fall.
Cole Anderson (So.) – 133
Anderson had a huge win over Kyle McCollum of St. Vincent by a 14-3 major decision. In the quarterfinals, the New Jersey native suffered a 21-5 technical fall loss to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) opponent Luke Hoerle of Stevens. Anderson suffered an injury that caused him to take a medical forfeit loss in his last match against Lycoming's Thomas Conselyea.
Noah Clawson (Jr.) – 141
Clawson fought hard against Roanoke's Mark Samuel but suffered an injury in the second period to force his first loss. The Monarch had to unfortunately take a medical forfeit in his next matchup against Jonathan Ward of Ferrum.
MJ Turi (Fy.) – 149
Turi was defeated in his first match of the day to Averett's Jesse Alvarado in a 14-0 major decision. The first year battled hard against Peyton Hearn of Penn State Behrend to come up with a 2-1 decision win. MAC opponent Pasquale Vizzoni of Stevens edged Turi in a 5-0 decision.
Bret Murphy (Jr.) – 157
Murphy was beaten by MAC rival Nicholas DeLorenzo of Delaware Valley in a 4:34 pinfall. The junior fell to Shenandoah's Cannon Long in 1:34.
Xavian Ramos (So.) – 165
Ramos was pinned by Mark Troni of Washington & Lee in 3:39. He fell to Southern Virginia's Calvin Fillmore in 1:18.
Nick Costello (Fy.) – 174
Costello was defeated by MAC rival Luke Moore of Delaware Valley in a 16-1 technical fall. The first year pestered Washington & Lee's Jak Krouse but succumbed to a 17-2 technical fall loss.
Jacob Hachtmann (Fy.) – 184
Hachtmann lost by pinfall against Averett's George Moseley in 2:24. He fought hard in his battle with Waynesburg's Jessie Orbin but lost in a 9-1 major decision.
Richard Fronheiser (Jr.) – 197
Fronheiser had a close matchup with Khalil Belk of Greensboro but fell in a 11-10 decision. The Monarch came roaring back as he won his next two. He defeated Shenandoah's George Vrachnos in a 19-7 major decision. Fronheiser then stood victorious over MAC opponent Messiah's Sawyer Dereszynski by a 12-7 decision. The junior wrestled another MAC opponent but was outlasted by Blaise Wagner of Stevens in a 19-5 major decision.
Bill Grace (Gr.) – 285/HWT
Grace lost in a 7-0 decision to Lycoming's Robbie West. The veteran wrestler came back to win a 6-0 decision over Eric Morales of Penn State Behrend. Grace fell to Jake Beistel of St. Vincent in 1:48.
