WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 11, 2024) -- The King's College men's golf team began their fall season with a home tri-match sweep over the Colonels of Wilkes University and the Warriors of Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon. The Monarchs had a team score of 334 (+54), while the Colonels and the Warriors evened with team scores of 351 (+71) at the Wyoming Valley Country Club.
On the par-70 course, Will Eberz (So.) of Lycoming took first place and scored a round of 74 (+4).
JP Gilroy (Sr.) cared a score of 80 (+10) to take the second spot and at third place was Wilkes' Cole Jungwirth (Sr.) with 81 (+11).
Michael Conflitti (Sr.) and the Colonels' Trey Hilbert (Jr.) deadlocked at fourth spot with a score of 83 (+13).
In sixth place was
Brendan Percey (Fy.) with a round of 85 (+15). One stroke behind was Matthew Carlson (Jr.) of Wilkes and
Jackson Grozelle tying at the seventh spot with 86 (+16). The Warriors' Mike Fry (So.) earned a score of 87 (+17) for ninth and teammate Connor Shanahan (So.) was right behind with a round of 89 (+19) for 10
th place.
Michael Kaleta (So.) rounded out the Monarchs and carded a score of 91 (+21) for the 11
th spot.
The Colonels' Brennan Reiner (Jr.) and Lycoming's Dylan Seck (Jr.) split 12
th place with a score of 101 (+31). In the last spots were the Warriors' Branson Dodson (Sr.) scoring a round of 102 (+32) and Sam Hopkins (Jr.) of Wilkes totaling a score of 105 (+35).
The Monarchs are back on the green with another contest against Wilkes at the Huntsville Golf Club on Saturday, September 14
th with a scheduled tee time of 1 p.m. The squad will be back on the road to take on Misericordia on Tuesday, September 17
th at Irem Temple Country Club. A scheduled tee time is set for 1 p.m.
