WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 5, 2024) -- Ahead of their opening weekend appearance at the 28th annual Mayor's Cup football game, it is with great pleasure that the King's College cheerleading program announced the appointment of Tessa Romani and Magdalena Toledo as Head Cheerleading Coaches.

Romani is a 2024 graduate of King's with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a focus in strength and conditioning and a minor in psychology. She was a four-year member and three-time captain for the Monarchs cheerleading program and helped lead the squad to a third-place finish in the partner stunt category at the 2023 MAC Championship. Additionally, she was a decorated member of the program, earning the Monarch Award as a sophomore, Leadership Award as a junior, and Senior Award in her final season.

"I'm excited to be share this role with Magdalena and provide a new sense of leadership along with this new team," said Romani. "We see a great direction that we're already headed in, and we want to keep implementing changes to move this program in a more collegiate direction. There is a lot of great energy and talent on this team which we want to harness and encourage for the continued growth of these athletes, not only within their own sport but as both representatives for institutional pride and spirit for our other athletic programs. I can't wait to bring it all to the sidelines for our fellow Monarchs past and present."

Toledo is a 2023 graduate of King's with a bachelor's degree in early education and is currently pursuing her master's degree at the College in curriculum instruction with a concentration in English as a second language. She was also a four-year member and three-time captain for the Monarchs and spent the 2023-24 campaign as an assistant coach.

"I am so excited to be back in a role with even more responsibilities and to share this head coach position with Tessa," added Toledo. "We have some great energy this year, and we're looking forward to an amazing season with new faces and new leadership but always the same Monarch spirit."

The pair began their duties as head coaches this past August and are prepped and ready for the team's first appearance this weekend at McCarthy Stadium.
