PITTSTON, PA (December 6, 2025) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team honored their six graduating members in a pregame Senior Day ceremony on Saturday afternoon before taking on Hood College in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play at Revolution Ice Centre. Despite a determined effort, the Monarchs fell 4-0 to the Blazers. King's moves to 0-9-0 overall and 0-7-0 in conference play, while Hood improves to 3-4-2 overall witht the same record in the MAC.
King's celebrated its seniors by sending all six into the starting lineup, including
Nina Anzalone,
Abby Barlocker,
Brenna Munn,
Amanda Sokol and
Maddie Vaughan with
Hayley Packer between the pipes. The group set the tone early with energy and leadership in front of the home crowd.
Hood opened the scoring on the power play at 3:36 of the first period to take a 1-0 lead. King's responded with strong defensive play and timely stops from Packer, who turned aside 10 shots in the opening frame, including a stretch of three consecutive saves in under 30 seconds around the midway point of the period to keep the deficit at one. The Monarchs generated six shots in the period and earned a late power play but could not convert.
The second period saw Hood capitalize once on the man advantage and twice at even strength to extend its lead to 4-0. Packer faced heavy pressure, making 18 saves in the frame, including a remarkable sequence during a penalty kill where she denied six attempts in quick succession. King's managed three shots in the period from
Alexis Jones, Sokol and Munn. The Monarchs continued to battle in the faceoff circle, winning seven draws.
In the third, the Monarchs pushed for a goal with five shots and two power play opportunities, but the Blazers' defense held firm. Packer added 12 more saves in the final stanza, finishing with 40 stops on 44 shots to anchor the King's effort.
King's totaled 14 shots on goal with Vaughan leading the team with three shots.
Jerrett Tietz and Sokol each added two apiece.
Kiana Dizon paced the Monarchs in the faceoff circle with 13 wins as Vaughan contributed 11 wins at the dot.
Defensively, King's blocked 18 shots, highlighted by Vaughan with four and
Victoria Fleury-Wright with three.
Caitlin Dube got in the way of three shots, while Tietz and Ava Goner chipped in two apiece. Packer's 40-save performance included multiple stretches of consecutive stops that kept King's within striking distance despite Hood's sustained pressure.
King's returns to action tomorrow in a rematch against Hood College at Revolution Ice Centre. Puck drop is set for 1:45 p.m.
