Grantham, PA (February 28, 2025) -- The King's College wrestling team competed at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships that was hosted by Messiah on Friday afternoon. The Monarchs brought 10 members to battle for a chance to go to the NCAA Division III Championships. King's are currently 13th of 18 teams with 21 points and will witness

Patrick Horvath – 125
Horvath was defeated against Horrison Gordon of NYU in a 15-0 technical fall. The junior prevailed as he won his next two bouts. Horvath dropped Scranton's Mark Ortiz in 2:54 and was victorious against Braden Schuyler of Elizabethtown in a 20-10 major decision. The Monarch will continue in the tournament for day two as he clinched a top eight finish.

Cole Anderson – 133
Anderson lost his first bout to Jacob Blair of Delaware Valley in an 8-4 decision. The senior went on to defeat Alvernia's James King in a 9-3 decision. Anderson fell to Caiden Heller of Messiah in a 9-4 decision.

Jacob Torres – 141
Torres battled against Messiah's Shaun Quirk in a close matchup but was bested by Quirk in a 15-14 decision. In his next match, Torres was pinned by Merchant Marine's Charles Lausten in 1:38.

Shane Kibler – 149
Kibler had a close battle with Gettysburg's Ethan Composto but was bested in a 5-4 decision. The junior prevailed as he defeated David Vacca of York in a 12-4 decision. Kibler would later celebrate a 10-3 decision victory over Delaware Valley's Charlie Robson. The Monarch advanced to day two of the tournament as he clinched a top eight finish.

Bret Murphy – 157
Murphy was bested by Alvernia's Jason Rezac in 2:08. The senior came back and defeated Michael Beers of Elizabethtown in a 15-0 technical fall. Murphy lost his final match to Gettysburg's Gavin Pascoe in a 6-3 decision.

Alex Ballantyne – 165
Ballantyne fell to Elizabethtown's Justice Hockenberry in 1:15. The junior was bested by Maxwell Corral of Merchant Marine in a 12-1 major decision.

Jacob Hachtmann – 174
Hachtmann was pinned by Scranton's Jacob Burgette in 3:06. The sophomore competed against Maxwell Corral of Merchant Marine and fell in a 12-4 major decision.

Jake Bobersky – 184
Bobersky entered the prelims and exited with an 11-2 major decision win over Delaware Valley's Aidan Murray. The first year lost his next matchup to Nils Updale of Ursinus in a 17-3 major decision, but came out on top against Gettysburg's Carson Pascoe in a sudden victory 4-1 win. Bobersky lost his last bout of the day to TCNJ's James Romaine in an 19-2 technical fall.

Richard Fronheiser – 197
Fronheiser outlasted Paul Parise of Muhlenberg in a 7-4 sudden victory. The senior fell in the quarter finals to Merchant Marine's Grant Mathias in 1:41. Fronheiser came back to deliver a 10-6 decision loss to John Libby of Johns Hopkins. The Monarch will move on to day two of the tournament as he clinched a top eight finish.

Nick Valenzano – HWT
Valenzano lost his first matchup by pinfall to Delaware Valley's Logan Flynn in 2:48. The junior battled Micah Martinez of Messiah into the second period but was pinned in 4:23.

The Monarchs will return to day two of the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships tomorrow, March 1
st at the Jordan Court in Hitchcock Arena.
