WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 1, 2025) – After a four week break, the King's College men's swim team were back in action on Saturday afternoon, as the Monarchs faced off against St. Joesph's Long Island at the Scandlon Natatorium. King's improved their overall record to 8-7 with a 146-32 victory over the Golden Eagles, and the win additionally pushes the team to 3-0 at home. St Joesph's now stands at 2-8 overall this season.
The Monarch's kicked off the 2026 new year in the 200-yard medley relay, as the squad of
Connor Scheckner,
Kyle McDevitt,
Chase Kubis and Christopher Dutko were triumphant in 1:48.37.
Dutko and
Christopher Maciejczyk placed first and second in the 1,000-yard freestyle as Dutko swam a time of 12:12.51 while C.Maciejczyk clocked in at 12:41.32.
Matthew Maciejczyk was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle by touching the block in 2:13.60, while his teammates C.Maciejczyk and
Stefan Lakoseljac finished second and third respectively with times of 2:15.76 and 2:16.89.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Scheckner claimed the top spot by swimming a time of 22.20, while Kubis clocked in at 22.56 to earn second as McDevitt placed third at 24.57.
Scheckner won his second event of the day as he finished first in the 200- yard IM at 2:29.08 while teammate
Julian Zoquier placed second as he swam a time of 2:29.08.
Lakoseljac claimed victory in the 100-yard butterfly by touching the block at 1:06.31 and Kubis pulled a win in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in a time of 53.78. In the 100-yard Backstroke, Scheckner was crowned victorious for the third time by swimming to the wall at 1:00.34 while teammate C.Maciejczyk finished behind him at 1:09.45.
Dutko won his second individual event by placing first with a time of 5:52.69 in the 500-yard Freestyle. In the 100-yard breaststroke, McDevitt finished first by swimming a time of 1:11.0 and Zoquier earned second clocking in at 1:12.30.
The Monarchs ended the meet with a solid first place showing in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay, as the group of Kubis, Zoquier, Lakoseljac, and McDevitt posted a time of 1:40.48, as King's wrapped up the afternoon with a win in every event.
The men's swim team returns to action at home on Wednesday January 14th at the Scandlon Natatorium to face off against the Devils of FDU-Florham at 1:00 p.m.
