GRANTHAM, PA (January 17, 2026)—The King's College wrestling team competed at the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships on Saturday at Messiah University.
Cole Anderson,
MJ Turi and
Jacob Hachtmann placed for the Monarchs at Hitchcock Arena for a total of 37 team points, placing them 10
th out of 10 teams.
Cole Anderson – 133 – Fourth Place
Anderson began his day on a strong note, taking down Misericordia's Hayden Best in an 8-2 decision before defeating Stevens' Vincent Principe in a highly contested 5-4 decision. The senior suffered his first loss of the day to the third-ranked wrestler in the nation, Jacob Blair by fall at the 2:31 mark. Anderson bounced back with a 4-2 decision win against Messiah's Tyler Ratledge before falling in the third-place match to Messiah's regionally-ranked Caiden Heller in a hard fought 6-2 decision.
MJ Turi – 157 – Fourth Place
The junior kicked off his MAC Championships with a 9-6 decision win over Misericordia's Brady Colville before advancing in his next match via medical forfeit. In his next matchup, Turi fell to Albright's Trent Mahoney, the seventh-ranked wrestler in the nation, by fall at 4:34. The Scranton native advanced to the 3
rd place matchup by medical forfeit before dropping the third-place match to Messiah's Noah Rice, 3-1, in sudden victory.
Jacob Hachtmann – 174 – Sixth Place
After a 16-6 major decision win in his first matchup against Stevens' Chris Piazza, Hachtmann dropped his next two matchups by major decision and fall. The junior suffered an injury in his matchup against Stevens' Ian Flanagan and was forced to forfeit the fifth place match, taking sixth for the Monarchs.
Patrick Horvath – 125
At 125, Horvath lost his first matchup of the day in a 19-14 decision against Messiah's Austin Jeffrey before concluding his MAC Championships with a 12-1 major decision loss to Albright's Hezekia Molina-Hagdu.
Sid O'Donnell – 125
Following a technical fall loss to nationally ranked Malik Asfour of Eastern, O'Donnell answered with a 9-0 major decision victory against Albright's Jason Woodrum before concluding his MAC Championships with a 8-3 decision loss to Stevens' James McGinley.
Christian Borges – 133
The first year came into his first MAC Championships with a matchup against Arcadia's Aamire Gaskins, where he fell 14-0 by major decision. Borges concluded his afternoon dropping a 16-2 major decision to Alvernia's Steven Harris.
Angel Avalos – 141
In his first matchup of the day, the sophomore suffered a 15-0 setback via tech. fall against York's Jacob Grzybek before closing out his MAC Championships with a loss by fall to Arcadia's Lucas Tirpak in the first period.
Jacob Torres – 141
Torres fell to Stevens' Sid Dillon in his first matchup of the day in 0:45. The senior closed out his conference championships dropping and 8-1 decision to Albright's Daniel Metzler.
Brian Hopkins – 149
Hopkins kicked off his MAC Championships on a high note, pinning Delaware Valley's Carlos Panchana at 3:39. The junior then dropped his next two matchups by fall to Eastern's Trokon Kai and Albright's Seth Karpulk to end his afternoon.
Shane Kibler – 149
Kibler dominated in his first matchup of the day, pinning Misericordia's Brady Quinn in 1:31. The senior fell in his next matchup to Alvernia's Chance Babb by fall at 5:00 before wrapping up his MAC Championships with a 16-2 major decision loss to Albright's regionally ranked Seth Karpulk.
Conor Knight – 157
Knight opened his conference championships with a matchup against Alvernia's Ian Vitalo, where he was injured in an 18-3 technical fall. He was forced to forfeit his next matchup, concluding his afternoon.
Mason Mordan – 165
The first year suffered two losses by fall at the MAC Championships, the first to Alvernia's regionally ranked Luke Thomas at 6:13 and the second to Albright's Beknazar Baiyshbekov at 0:33.
Michael Zaunczkowski – 165
Zaunczkowski fell in his first matchup of the day against Bluny Davilma of Albright by fall at 2:05 before finishing his first MAC Championships with a 17-2 loss by tech. fall to Arcadia's Landen Taylor.
Alex Ballantyne – 174
Ballantyne suffered a loss by tech. fall in his opening matchup at the MAC Championships against Messiah's Andrew Kozubal prior to losing his second match against Quincy Risper of Delaware Valley by fall at 6:04.
Jake Bobersky – 184
The sophomore lost both of his first two matchups by decision to Albright's Abdoul Akala and Ryad Belguet of Delaware Valley, concluding his second trip to the MAC Championships.
Luke Palladino – 197
The first year fell in his first matchup of the day to York's Josh Stahl by a score of 15-0 in a technical fall before closing out his opening conference championships with a loss by tech. fall to Tristan Cuellar of Misericordia.
Jacob Lance – 285
Lance suffered an injury prior to the conference championships and was forced to forfeit each of his two matches on the day.
Sam Moffett – 285
After a loss by fall to Owen Reber of Alvernia in his opening matchup at the MAC Championships, the first year bounced back with a pin of his own against Maximus Gordon of Delaware Valley. Moffett wrapped up his day with a loss by fall at 6:49 to Joseph Gassert of Albright.
King's wrestling returns to the mat on Saturday, January 24
th as the Monarchs head to Williamsport, PA to take on the Warriors of Lycoming at 1:00 p.m.
