WILKES-BARRE, PA (January 24, 2025) -- The King's College women's swimming team were defeated by Moravian University 79-121, Saturday afternoon at the Scandlon Natatorium. The Monarchs now sit at 2-15 overall while the Greyhounds improve to 3-6.
In the group events, the squad of
Mackenzie Huffer,
Abigayle Cryan,
Stefany Malaga and
Carla Hidalgo won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.53.
In the individual events, Malaga was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:26.61 while Cryan finished third with a time of 3:09.82. Huffer won the 100-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 1:08.44.
Malaga continued her dominance, winning her second event of the day by swimming to the wall in 29.02 in the 50-yard freestyle. In the 200-yard backstroke, Hidalgo placed first by touching the block at 2:27.53.
Huffer was triumphant in 100-yard butterfly, as she stopped the clock in 1:07.88 to receive her second individual victory. Hidalgo and Malaga earned second and third respectively in the 200-yard IM, as Hidalgo swam a time of 2:32.71 and Malaga posted a time of 2:52.34.
The Monarchs return to the Scandlon Natatorium next week on January 31, where they will compete in the Red and Gold meet at 1:00 p.m.
