Monarchs Open Season at Wilkes Tri-Meet

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 10, 2026) - On Saturday morning, the King's College men's swimming team opened its season with a tri-meet against Wilkes University and Marywood University at the Wyoming Valley CYC. The Monarchs fell to the Colonels, 172-86, but defeated the Pacers, 161-88, to start the season 1-1.

The quartet of Reece Steibler, Liam Moloney, Julian Zoquier and Max Vasquez opened the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:53.77. In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Matt Maciejczyk finished fifth in 14:03.94.

Chase Kubis finished third in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:59.90, while teammates Steibler and Milz Michaels placed fifth and seventh, respectively, with times of 2:12.71 and 2:19.24.

Connor Scheckner began his sophomore season by winning the 50-yard backstroke at 25.31. Christopher Maciejczyk finished fifth in 32.27. In the 50-yard breaststroke, Kyle McDevitt and Zoquier placed fourth and sixth, respectively, by touching the block with times of 31.82 and 32.47.

Milz and Matthew Maciejczyk placed seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly by recording times of 1:09.24 and 1:13.88. In the 50-yard freestyle, Kubis finished second in 23.27, McDevitt placed fourth in 25.62, and Steibler finished sixth with a time of 26.11.

Kubis continued his strong performance with a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at 52.51. Moloney placed sixth in 54.96, while Steibler finished seventh in 58.32. Scheckner earned his second victory of the day in the 100-yard backstroke by stopping the clock at 55.12, while teammate Chris Maciejczyk finished fifth at 1:09.72.

McDevitt and Zoquier placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:11.20 and 1:11.87. In the 500-yard freestyle, Vasquez finished fourth in 6:07.76, while Chris Maciejczyk placed fifth in 6:24.97.

Moloney finished third in the 50-yard butterfly at 26.48. Milz and Matt Maciejczyk placed eighth and ninth, respectively, by swimming times of 28.66 and 31.13. Scheckner earned his third individual victory of the day by winning the 200-yard individual medley by posting a time of 2:08.64. Zoquier finished seventh in 2:30.85.

The Monarchs closed the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The squad of Kubis, McDevitt, Moloney and Scheckner closed the race out with a time of 1:34.32. Scheckner capped off an outstanding performance with three individual victories and a relay win.

The Monarchs return to action Saturday, October 17, at 1 p.m. for their first home meet of the season against Lebanon Valley College at Scandlon Natatorium. The meet will also recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
