MADISON, N.J. (October 24, 2026) -- Behind a career performance from quarterback
Jaelin Mims and an offense that struck for big plays all afternoon, the King's College football team earned a 49-30 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) victory over FDU-Florham on Saturday at Robert T. Shields Field. The Monarchs picked up their first road win of the campaign and second-straight victory, improving to 3-3 overall and in conference play. The Devils fell to 0-7 overall and 0-6 in MAC action.
Â
Mims was nearly perfect in the pocket, completing 10-of-11 passes for career highs in both passing yards and touchdowns as King's finished with 49 points. The Monarchs repeatedly converted in key situations, turning third-down opportunities into explosive gains while controlling the momentum throughout the second half.
Â
King's wasted little time getting on the board. Early in the opening quarter, Mims found
Joey Hebling all alone in the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown pass, Hebling's second of the season.
Gavin Wolfe's first career point-after attempt was successful, giving the Monarchs a 7-0 lead.
Â
After the Devils answered, King's struck again with another explosive play. Mims dropped back and delivered a perfect deep ball right into the breadbasket of
Kival Clarke, who secured the pass and outran the defense for a 29-yard touchdown reception to put the Monarchs back in front.
Â
FDU-Florham managed to draw even at 14-14 in the second quarter, but King's responded with a methodical drive that reached the two-yard line.
Joey Rehberg capped the possession with a quarterback keeper, powering into the end zone to restore a 21-14 Monarch advantage.
Â
The King's defense came up with one of its biggest moments of the afternoon late in the first half. The Devils threatened deep in Monarch territory before
James Mangine and
Jacob Mullery helped lead a trio of critical red-zone stops. The stand forced FDU-Florham to settle for a field goal, allowing King's to take a 21-17 lead into halftime.
Â
The Monarchs seized control immediately after the break.
Â
Following a defensive stop, King's converted another crucial third down when Mims handled a low snap and connected with
Devin Duana on a slant route. Duana caught the pass in stride and raced 39 yards to the end zone on a third-and-10 play, extending the advantage to 28-17.
Â
The defense answered right back. On the very first play of the ensuing FDU drive, Mullery stepped in front of a pass for an interception, giving the ball right back to the Monarch offense. King's took advantage of the short field, marching inside the five-yard line before
Brandon Auguste slipped through traffic for his first collegiate touchdown and a 35-17 lead.
Â
The momentum continued to swing in the Monarchs' favor as the defense forced another quick stop. On the next offensive possession, Mims executed a play-action fake and found Clarke behind the defense for a 70-yard touchdown strike. Clarke's second touchdown reception of the afternoon stretched the lead to 42-17 late in the third quarter.
Â
King's put the game out of reach early in the fourth. Facing third-and-six, Duana turned a short gain into a highlight-reel play, spinning away from defenders and racing 71 yards downfield to the FDU 10-yard line. A few plays later, Rehberg fooled the defense on a quarterback keeper and walked untouched into the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the game, making it 49-17.
Â
Clarke finished with five catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns, while Duana totaled three receptions for 129 yards and a score. Mims posted career highs with four touchdown passes and 322 yards through the air, while Hebling added a touchdown reception. Rehberg rushed for two scores and Auguste added his first collegiate touchdown. Wolfe was perfect on all seven of his point-after attempts.
Â
The Monarch defense continually gave the offense opportunities throughout the afternoon, forcing multiple three-and-outs and coming up with several drive-changing plays. Mullery led the unit with seven tackles, including 2.0 tackles for loss, while adding a pivotal 19-yard interception return in the third quarter.
David Ennis recorded six tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while Mangine finished with five tackles and a tackle for loss to help anchor the red-zone stand before halftime.
Craig Graves and
Andrew Frazier each recorded sacks,
Tyler Bird forced and recovered a fumble, and the Monarchs totaled eight tackles for loss as a defensive unit.
Â
King's returns home to McCarthy Stadium next Saturday for a MAC matchup with Delaware Valley University on Halloween. Fans are encouraged to wear their best costume for the Halloween Costume Contest. Kickoff against the Aggies is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
