Women's Ice Hockey Caps Season-Opening Series With 8-2 Win Over Hiram

PITTSTON, PA (October 31, 2026) -- The King's College women's ice hockey team continued its historic start to the season on Saturday evening, defeating Hiram College 8-2 at Revolution Ice Centre. The Monarchs improved to 2-0 for the first time in program history, while the Terriers dropped to 0-2 in the inaugural season of the program.

The victory featured several more career milestones for the Monarchs. Abi Carr scored the first two goals of her collegiate career, while Logan Sullivan and Brynn Holland each netted their first collegiate goals. In goal, Kailyn Williams earned her first career victory in her first collegiate start, stopping 15 shots.

King's controlled play from the opening faceoff and broke through at the 5:27 mark of the first period when Cameron-Reese Haught finished a feed from Carr for her third goal of the season. The Monarchs doubled their advantage late in the frame as Sullivan buried the first goal of her collegiate career off assists from Holland and Sammi Stead with 2:12 remaining in the opening period.

The Monarchs wasted little time extending the lead in the second period. Just 14 seconds after the puck dropped, Kylee Riscoe found the back of the net off assists from Malea Viola and Riley Kumrow for the eventual game-winning goal. Carr then struck twice in a span of 3:10, scoring an unassisted tally at 3:09 before finishing a setup from Haught at 6:19 to push the King's advantage to 5-0.

Hiram answered with a pair of goals 1:18 apart midway through the second period to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly erased early in the third period. Just 57 seconds into the frame, Stead converted a pass from Sullivan to restore a four-goal cushion. Holland also picked up a helper on Stead's second goal of the season and later recorded her first collegiate goal with an unassisted marker at 10:36. Claudia Roderique capped the scoring at 14:05 off assists from Haught and Chloe Julien.

The Monarch offense generated a relentless attack throughout the night, firing a program record 78 shots on goal while holding a 35-30 advantage in faceoff wins. Haught, Carr and Holland paced the offense with three points apiece.. Sullivan also posted a multi-point performance with a goal and an assist.

Williams made 15 saves to earn the victory.

King's will return to action on Friday, November 6 as they host Arcadia University to kick off Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play. Puck drop against the Knights from the Revolution Ice Centre is slated for 7:00 p.m.
