ALLENTOWN, PA (March 19, 2026)— The King's College softball team dropped a pair of matchups on the road in Allentown, PA on Thursday afternoon. The Monarchs lost game one by score of 9-1 in six innings and the second game by a score of 10-3. The losses drop the Monarchs to 5-9 overall on the season.
Game 1 – L, 9-1
Muhlenberg took an early lead in the first inning, using a leadoff single and a stolen base to set up an RBI double to take a 1-0 advantage.
After a scoreless second, the Mules added another run in the third inning after another single stolen base put a runner in scoring position before a fielders choice extended the lead to 2-0.
King's broke through in the fifth inning to cut the deficit in half.
Elise Larson led off with a single and advanced to second on an error in the outfield before moving to third on a groundout.
Kara Krouse then delivered an RBI infield single to bring Larson home and make it a 2-1 game.
Muhlenberg responded in the bottom half of the inning with a four-run frame to take control. A leadoff single and sacrifice bunt started the rally before a series of hits and an error allowed the Mules to widen the margin at 6-1.
The Mules added three more runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning on a pair of hits and another error to secure the 9-1 victory.
Larson led the Monarchs offensively, going 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Krouse drove in the team's lone run with the RBI single. Goldspiel, Matsko, and Marianelli each added a hit as King's finished with six in game one.
Game 2 – L, 10-3
Following a scoreless first two innings, King's struck first the nightcap, using a strong third inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Makenzie Johnson reached after being hit by a pitch to open the frame before
Breanna Goldspiel followed with a bunt single. After a sacrifice bunt from
Madison Badali moved both runners into scoring position,
Megan Matsko delivered a two-run double to left center to give the Monarchs a 2-0 advantage.
Meghan Marianelli added to the rally with an RBI single to center field, extending the lead to 3-0 midway through three.
Muhlenberg answered in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a pair of hits to plate two runs and cut the deficit to 3-2. The Mules then broke the game open in the fifth, taking advantage of multiple defensive miscues and stringing together six hits to score six runs, all of which were unearned, to take an 8-3 lead.
The Mules added insurance in the sixth inning with a pair of runs on three hits, extending the advantage to 10-3. King's was unable to respond offensively over the final four innings, as Muhlenberg secured the game two victory.
Goldspiel led the Monarch offense with three hits, while Matsko recorded a double and two RBIs. Marianelli added an RBI, and Johnson scored a run as King's totaled five hits in the contest.

Alyssa Fox went the distance, allowing four earned runs on 14 hits while striking out three over six innings.
The Monarchs return to action on Saturday, March 21 as they host DeSales in the MAC Freedom opener with matchups set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
