EDWARDSVILLE, PA (April 24, 2026) -- The King's College men's tennis team brought its spring season to a close on Friday afternoon, falling 6-1 to Wilkes University at the Ralston Athletic Complex. The Monarchs finish the year with a 1-12 record, while the Colonels improve to 7-9.
Singles play accounted for the lone point of the match for King's, coming at the bottom of the lineup in dramatic fashion.
Tim John opened singles play at No. 1 and dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision to Sebastian Sylvester.
Gavin Hall followed at No. 2 singles, falling 6-1, 6-3 to Cole Riley.
At No. 3 singles,
Amir Samadian was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Landon Gleichauf, while
Logan Tomkins suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss to Otarhe Okoh at No. 4.
William Savner competed at No. 5 singles and fell 6-0, 6-0 to Xavier Bleiler.
The highlight of the afternoon came at No. 6 singles, where
Zackary Bedwell battled through a tightly contested three‑set match. Bedwell claimed the opening set 7-5 before Wilkes' Luke Meissner evened the match in the second. Bedwell then pulled out a 10-7 victory in the third‑set super tiebreak to earn King's lone point in the team's season finale.
Doubles play followed with Wilkes securing two early flights. John and Hall dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles to Riley and Sylvester. At No. 2 doubles, the duo of Savner and Tomkins fell 6-0 to Gleichauf and Okoh. King's picked up its doubles win at No. 3, as Bedwell and Samadian earned a 6-4 victory over Luis Delgado and Cole Larcinese.
